Bildts lexicon for Blizzard 2025

The lexicon available to you originates from the dictionary Woordeboek fan 't Bildts, authored by H.S. Buwalda, S.H. Buwalda, A.C.B. van der Burg, and H. Sijens.

This lexicon is strictly for research purposes. No commercial usage of any kind is permitted. Every time you use this lexicon in your work, you must properly attribute the authors.

The lexicon is provided as a tab-separated file with UTF-8 encoding. The first column contains the lemma, which is the base form of the word. The apostrophe symbol (') in the lemma marks the stressed syllable. The second column contains the phonetic transcription in IPA format, with an additional symbol @ representing the vowel change before /r/, where it takes on an [i]-like quality. For example, "barst" is transcribed as [bɑ@ist].

In some cases, only partial transcriptions are provided. If a compound word contains a component already described elsewhere in the dictionary, that component may be omitted in the transcription. Such cases are marked with an asterisk (*) in the third column.

The lexicon contains only lemmas. It does not include inflected forms of nouns or verbs.
