By plane

Bonn is easily reached by plane via the Cologne-Bonn airport. Many cheap airlines such as Germanwings or HapagLloydExpress offer flights to many places in Europe such as Edinburgh, Barcelona, Athens, Prague, Zurich etc. at low fares. For the low fares it is essential that you book early. There are airport buses (5 EURO) that take you to the Bonn main train station (Bonn Hauptbahnhof). To get from there to IKP, please follow further instructions for people arriving by train.

By train

Bonn is easily reached by train. If you travel to Bonn Hauptbahnhof (Bonn Main Station) directly, and most of the city hotels are within walking distance. However, if you travel via Frankfurt-Airport or some other cities in Southern Germany such as Stuttgart or Heidelberg with the high speed train, you may have to get off at the Siegburg/Bonn station, which is located across the Rhine (living on the other side of the river Rhine comes very close to capital offence in both Bonn and Cologne - and is a lot cheaper also ;-)). From there, you need to take the tram No. 66. The fare is 3,65 EURO (Preisstufe 3) and can be bought on the tram - but it may be a good idea to have some change ready. Leave the tram at Bonn Hauptbahnhof (subway = U-Bahn). Walking from Bonn Hauptbahnhof will only take you 5 minutes to IKP. If you got off from the airport bus, take one of the passages underneath the railways to get to the other side. If you got off the subway 66 or the train, enter the passage which gets you to the railtracks and follow the signs Quantiusstraße. Once you see the sky again, turn left. Soon you will get to a larger street covered by trees heading to a small castle with trees and a lane for pedestrians and cyclists in the middle. You almost made it. Walk into the direction of the castle but keep to the left hand side. After you passed a traffic light crossing the Baumschulallee/Bonner Talweg, enter the driveway on the left hand side with the two signs Institut für Kommunikationsforschung und Phonetik and Zentrum für Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaft.

By car

You need to reach the Autobahn A565 (Bonn-Nord/Altenahr) and take the exit Bonn-Poppelsdorf. This exit leads to the B9 (Reuterstraße) in the direction of Bad Godesberg. At the first traffic lights, turn right into a small street (Jagdweg), at the next traffic lights, turn right again, from there, turn right at the second traffic lights (Clemens-August-Straße). Follow that street and pass a castle on your right hand (Poppelsdorfer Schloß), turn right directly after Poppelsdorfer Schloß into the Poppelsdorfer Allee. Follow the street (left turn). The driveway to the institute is the first on the right hand side after the crossing into the Argelander Straße.
